Each time you check your blood glucose level, make a record in this diary. Over time, you will be able to see what makes your blood glucose levels go up or down. Take this diary with you when you visit your healthcare team. Exercise Diary

Regular exercise is one of the most important things you can do for yourself*. It plays an important role in keeping you healthy. Not only does regular exercise make you feel and look fit, but it can also help balance you glucose levels and decrease the risk of diabetes complications.  Here are some of the benefits of exercise:

  • helps the body use insulin more efficiently , impriving your diabetes management
  • prevents or reduces complications and risks associated with diabetes
  • helps build muscle, which can burn fat faster and control blood sugar
  • assists in weight control
  • raises the good cholesterol called HDL (high-density lipoprotein)
  • improves the ability to do everyday tasks
  • helps reduce stress and enhance the sense of well-being
  • strengthen your heart and lower your blood pressure

To get started with your new exercise regime, talk to your doctor about the best exercise program for you and then set realistic targets and goals you wish to achieve.
